The "Spinet" by A Allen of Glasgow. Patent No 262706. Brass + white metal. This manufacturer had a shop, in Saint Enochs Square in Glasgow, I new they put there name to hickory golf clubs, but this is the first reel I have seen . I know very little about this item or fishing in general, I have asked a few fishing chums there opinion , one has informed me that this was the first of its kind , and had only ever seen 2 previous , which were both owned by the one collector, who was a game keeper and had been given them many years ago to clear a debt, he also said it was over 100 years old, whether this is true ? Anyway the pattern / registration no 262706, Spinet. Other than a small bit of damage to foot , the reel is in excellent condition and works well , no wear to teeth etc
